The beginnings of the Petzl protection equipment began with the passion of its founder Fernand Petzl for the sport of caving, a passion at the service of which he knew how to put his craft skills. A savoir-faire was born for the design and execution of solutions to ascend, descend, ensure and progress in the dark. In 1970, the first products of the "Fernand Petzl" brand were manufactured in a workshop in Saint-Nazaire-Les Eymes (Isère, France). Since then, the Petzl company, created in 1975, has managed to grow and become an international group, while retaining its family dimension and the passion that encouraged Fernand Petzl.

To design
The Petzl R&D department, located in Crolles (France), integrates all trades related to product design: mechanics, textiles, electronics, optics and computers. Test
In Crolles, Petzl has laboratories dedicated to the testing of vertical world products and flashlights. Manufacture and control
Petzl production factories are in France: Crolles, Eybens and Rotherens; and also in Malaysia: Rawang.
